Beyond The Pillars is an awesome indie video game production in Paris, France.

Artsy and narrative, their games are not your usual violent stuff, but rather combine gorgeous illustrations and narrative poetry with a hint of Nordic mythology (ever heard of the Volüspa ? Now you have!). Check out “Winter Voices” the first Role Playing Game Series they are releasing, in 7 episodes this fall. (in English and French)

On the road with Taj Weekes and Adowa

Our documentary “The Bitter With The Sweet”, produced in partnership with his charity TOCO, is in post-production for a release in November 2010.
This summer we continue to follow Taj Weekes on the road for his new album tour, and August 7th he will be at Joe’s Pub in NYC.

Innocents on Death Row, in Florida

The reason for our trip was a good cause:

Juan Melendez (left) was incarcerated in 1983 for a crime committed in Florida. Although he was in Pennsylvania at the time, and another man ultimately confessed to the murder, he was kept on death row for 17 years. Pure luck made a judge and a defense attorney discuss a box with a transcript of the confession in 2002.
Juan is now free and an advocate for “Voices for Justice”.

His lawyer, Marty McClain (right) is the other kind of lawyer. He spent his entire life working as a defense attorney in Florida on cases that everyone has abandoned, especially on death row. And his work contributed to revoking the use of the electric chair in the State of Florida.
As of November 3, 2009 there have been 139 exonerations in 26 different States.

“Infinito” is a documentary program for Turner Argentina, broadcasted in Latin America.

We were proud to collaborate with them for the first time. We have become excellent at packing an editing suite in the front seat, and lighting gear in the back of any car. Even if it cramped our style a bit to drive a minivan instead of a convertible…

Film-Land always combines pleasure and work – even on the weekends!

Watch this 1 minute video we created for DJ Michael Arana, who celebrated his birthday by spinning in New York’s most sought out dance club, Cielo –a state of the art dance club in the heart of the Meat-Packing district with outstanding lighting design and one of the best sound system in the city.

Of course, once we put away the camera, we ended up on the dance floor.

As we are constantly striving to give the best experience to our clients, we thought dealing with FTP and logins and passwords was really too time consuming.

Caroline designed it, our programmer in Toronto, Jerrie, built it, et voilà: Personalized Client Download pages, with a Film-Land flavor. It’s simple, easy to use and … visually pleasant. For one can be a geek and still like good-looking things.
